List your top 5 grocery store items.

5. Kinda Cheesy Nooch Popcorn: Nooch popcorn is a vegan popcorn brand that i love. I am not a vegan, but their cheesy nutritional yeast seasoned popcorn is delicious.

4. Green grapes: Green grapes are one of my favourite fruits aside from strawberries. Crunchy, sweet, and delicious, i could eat these all day!

3: Dark chocolate: This may or may not be controversial but i love dark chocolate. I prefer savoury snacks to sweet snacks but when i am in the mood for something sweet, i will never pass up dark chocolate. It’s not as sweet as milk chocolate and i love the taste of it.

2. Haagen Dazs Coffee Ice Cream: This is my favourite ice cream flavour! I love that it isn’t too sweet but still tastes like ice cream and i love the bitterness of the coffee. My best friend and i always go to Save On Foods and buy a tub of this ice cream to share because it is so good.

  1. Peace Tea: Peace tea is a brand of ice tea that you can find in stores across Canada and the US. These are delicious (they have flavours like; peach, raspberry, mango green tea, etc.) Their also very cheap and sourced locally.

Describe a man who has positively impacted your life.

The man that has positively impacted my life is my acting teacher Andy Toth. He was the first teacher to look me in the eyes and listen to what i was saying. He was the first teacher that questioned me when he knew that i could say more. He was the first teacher who challenged me on a daily basis, but then rewarded me when he knew that i had done something emotionally vulnerable or something that was out of my comfort zone. He has impacted my life in more ways than one, and i am more than grateful to be taught by him.

book lover tag

  1. what are your favorite genres to read: i am a sucker for romance novels. there’s something about them that feels so heartwarming and comforting. there are so many popular tropes in romance novels as well, from enemies to lovers, arranged marriage and childhood sweethearts, to forbidden love, forced proximity and second chance love, all i love.  another genre that i adore reading is fantasy. i love the feeling of being transported to a different time, dimension or planet, and i love the action, adventure and romance that is played out in fantasy novels!
  2. do you read more relatively popular books or more underrated books: i think a mix of both, i love reading books by authors who are less well known than others, i enjoy reading books by small up and coming writers because i genuinely enjoy supporting them, and following their careers. i also love hearing other people’s suggestions, and i love buying books that are well rated in booktok and goodreads since they are two very reliable literary sources.
  3. from what author have you read the most books from: i think right now the author that i’ve read the most books from is colleen hoover, although that is a wild guess, i love her books and she is one of my favorite writers so i’m guessing at the moment i’ve read colleen hoover the most.
  4. what audiences (YA, middle grade, adult, etc) do you gravitate towards the most: i have to say that i do gravitate towards ya novels the most, however i have been reading more books that adult audiences gravitate towards and im really liking a lot of what im reading. ya will always be my favorite sub genre though.
  5. most relatable character: this is a very hard question because i usually read as a way to escape, so there are not many characters that i easily relate to. however, i do think that i relate to aza holmes from john greene’s “turtles all the way down.”
  6. have you always loved reading: oh, yes, absolutely!! my parents, friends and family used to compare me to the character of matilda all the time when i was younger, i would sit in my bedroom for hours on end reading. it was my way to escape, my way to be my own person, i thought of it as my own personal friend.
  7. what’s a book you feel was written for you: oooh this is such an interesting question!! i think that the book that closely represents the person that i am is dramarama by e. lockhart. this book is about two teenagers in ohio who decide to attend an intensive theater training summer camp. this book speaks to me in a very specific way because i myself am a theater kid, and am enrolled in a performing arts high school where i train in musical theater for 25 hours a week.
  8. first or third person: personally i prefer first person narration more because it teaches me more about the character and helps me better understand who they are. however, i prefer third person narration when i am reading a fantasy, thriller or mystery novel.
  9. are you a mood reader or a tbr reader: i would say i am definitely a mood reader, i read when i want to and don’t set specific times for myself to read, unless i have a very busy day or week, then i will schedule a time for me to sit down, relax and read.
  10. series or standalones: i was a hardcore series reader, i loved the attachment that i developed with the characters and the world in which the story was told but now that i’m older i enjoy standalone books more, i couldn’t tell you why specifically, i’m just more drawn to standalone books more now.
  11. do you annotate your books: ALWAYS. it is my favorite occupation. my greatest victory is that all of my books are kept in perfect shape and are annotated correctly. i love annotating books, it feels so special, like the book is really mine.
  12. long or short books: i myself love reading longer books because then i can easily invest in the characters and the world immediately. with short books i find it harder. it’s also difficult for me to stay completely invested in shorter books. 300-400 pages is my go to length, however i’m not one to shy away from a 600-709 page book either.
  13. favorite bookish tropes: my personal favorite is enemies to lovers. some other favorites are long lost loves, childhood sweethearts, forced proximity and second chance love (aka lily and atlas in it ends with us and it starts with us.)
  14. favorite book to film/tv show adaptation: i loved the adaptation of heart stopper. that book series was so fuzzy and comforting and the tv show perfectly represented all that i loved about it, plus the aesthetic of the tv show was gorgeous.
  15. do you dnf: no, it is one of my biggest pet peeves to dnf. i hate it, i never want to give up on books. it doesn’t really matter whether i liked it or not, but i don’t want t just abandon the book, i want to give it a chance. i think i’ve only dnf’d a couple of times.
  16. what’s a book you wish had a sequel: i would have loved a sequel to “the fault in our stars” by john green. i love that book so much, and i would have loved to see hazel and augustus’s relationship play out further in a sequel.

Musical Theatre Dream Roles: (Updated version/ 2 years later)

Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you’re doing very well. Today I thought that I would share my musical theatre dream roles with all of you. Two years ago almost to this day, I wrote and published a blog post about my musical theatre dream roles that year. I thought that today I would share an updated version of that original blog post. I thought that this would be an interesting post to write just to visually see the growth and change 2 years later. I also thought that it would be interesting to post the dream roles that I had listed two years ago as a visualization of the growth over the years. So with that being said, enjoy!

2020 Dream Roles:

Roxie Hart: Chicago

Michael Mell: Be More Chill

Alyssa Greene: The Prom

Miss Hannigan: Annie

Cinderella: Into The Woods

Winnie Foster: Tuck Everlasting

Cady Heron: Mean Girls

Barbara Maitland: Beetlejuice

Wendla: Spring Awakening

Zoe Murphy: Dear Evan Hansen

Chris: Carrie

Fanny Brice: Funny Girl

Veronica Sawyer: Heathers

Satine: Moulin Rouge

Katherine Howard: Six

Elphaba: Wicked

Dawn: Waitress

2022 Dream Roles:

Street Urchin in Little Shop Of Horrors: I would love to play one of the street urchins in Little Shop Of Horrors. The three women are based off of 50’s and 60’s girl groups and so the music and songs that the street urchins perform in the show are very much written to memorialize that time. The street urchins dance, sing, and have sizeable roles in the show and I think that it would be a blast to perform in the show.

Janet Van De Graff in Drowsy Chaperone: I love the Drowsy Chaperone. I was introduced to this musical roughly a year ago and it changed my perception of contemporary musical theatre. I think that it is a well crafted, well performed musical and I would die if given the opportunity to play Janet Van De Graff. Janet is a retired showgirl who decides to give up her career for marriage. I love this character with my whole heart. She has such a huge heart and is filled with vivacious energy. The song “Show Off” is one of my favourite contemporary numbers and it would be a privilege to perform it on stage.

Eurydice in Jasper In Deadland: This is a musical that I have recently discovered and have fallen in love with. Jasper in Deadland is a play on the infamous greets myths, but with a modern twist. It’s a classic contemporary rock musical and it would be so much fun to be in a show like it. I would specifically love to play the character of Eurydice. Her solo “Lifesong” never fails to make me emotional and it’s a perfect ballad for a mezzo soprano/soprano performer.

Maggie Winslow in A Chorus Line: A Chorus Line has to be my favourite musical. I love everything about it. The text, the songs, the concept. I have wanted to be in A Chorus Line since I was a little girl but specifically I’ve always wanted to play Maggie. She is a character very much alike to my own self and so I can easily relate to the issues and prejudice that she faces throughout the show. She’s written as a very goody two shoes all American sweetheart type, and I would love to play the role.

Mary in Merrily We Roll Along: Merrily We Roll Along has to be my favourite Sondheim show. I think it’s an exceptionally written musical with a heartfelt plot and some of his best crafted songs. I would love to portray the character of Mary. I feel that she is such a versatile character and I believe that I could portray the character in a very different and newly interpreted way. As a little bonus “Old Friend” is one of my favourite musical theatre numbers and it would be a privilege to sing it on stage.

Hedda Hopper in Chaplin: I love this musical. I never thought that I would enjoy a musical about Charlie Chaplin’s life but it is genuinely so expertly written and performed it has made me rethink quite a lot. I’ve always been interested in Hedda Hopper. Especially her relationship with Charlie Chaplin. The song “All Falls Down” perfectly depicts their relationship and the character that Hedda Hopper was. I am a classical soprano type so I’m not usually suited for jazzy/sexy/alto musical theatre numbers but I would LOVE to perform this showstopper in front of an audience. It’s such a well crafted song and I feel that there is so much characterization and personal flair that can be added.

Christine in Phantom Of The Opera: Remember when I just mentioned that I was a classical soprano type of performer, well this is when my strengths can be used in advantage. I guarantee that if you ask any female soprano performer what one of their musical theatre dream roles is they will answer Christine in Phantom Of The Opera. I am no exception. I love this musical. I love this character and I LOVE this music. Phantom Of The Opera will always remain as my favourite classical musical. It is expertly written by the one and only Andrew Loyd Webber and I love the concept. One of my many theatrical dreams is to perform “Think Of Me” in front of a sold out audience.

Shatter Me by: Tahereh Mafi

Hello everyone! How are you? I hope you are all doing well, and I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer. I can’t believe that it is going to be autumn again so soon! Time flies when you’re having fun. I have been reading lots this summer and so I decided to review a book that I have just recently finished. This book is entitled Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. It was published on November 15th, 2011, and has sold over a million copies around the world. The book is actually a part of a fantasy/dystopian trilogy written by Tahereh Mafi however today I will only be reviewing the first book in the series, as it is the only book in the series that I have read. So, with that said, I hope you enjoy this review of Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. Have a wonderful day!

Synopsis:

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.
The last time she did, it was an accident, but the Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t touch anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17 year old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong colour. The Reestablishment said their way was the only way the fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war- and the Reestablishment has changed it’s mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now. Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon, or be a warrior.

Review:

I was given this book by a friend of mine for my birthday. She had read it the previous week before, and she had enjoyed it so much that she decided to buy me my own copy of the book so that I could read it myself. Now, I am all for my friends or family members giving me book recommendations because I love doing the same thing, so I decided to take a leap of faith and read it. Oh boy, was I pleasantly surprised. After the first ten pages I could instantly tell that I would enjoy it. The plot is very innovative, original and interesting. I was immediately drawn by the synopsis and funnily enough the cover art as well. As I began to read more and more of this book I began to realize that it is a work of genius. The book is a mix of the Hunger Games, Lord Of The Rings and the Selection series (which I may or may not do a review on soon.) The writing is descriptive and the story is expertly researched. You can tell that the writer of this book Tahereh Mafi took extensive care in making this book. The very small details crafted throughout the book are entertaining and fun to take note of. One of my favourite parts of this book is the way that the main character Juliette develops throughout the book. When you begin the book you think of Juliette as a timid, emotionally traumatized young woman who has had to deal with extensive trauma and hardship throughout her childhood, you can see that this reflects the way she narrates the story in the beginning of the book. Many of her sentences spoken out loud are repeated (a sign of anxiousness and overwhelming thoughts) as well as the fact that many of the things that she said are crossed out in black (which is not a printing error) this shows how she is not fully confident yet and she is not sure how much information she can give to people. I throughly enjoyed this book and will be awaiting the next book in the series very soon!

Unpopular Glee Opinions:

Hi everyone, how are you? i hope your doing very very well. I thought that today i would cover a subject that i have not covered on my blog before. That subject is Glee. I began to watch Glee during the pandemic and being fully enraptured by the show. I have watched every episode numerous times, and i listen to the covers of the songs frequently. Today i thought that i would share my top 5 unpopular (or popular) Glee opinions. I hope you enjoy this post and i hope you have a wonderful day.

5. I like Terri Schuester: Terri Schuester first made her appearance in Season 1 as Will Schuester’s wife. Terri Scheuster is introduced as a compulsive (maybe slightly manipulative) woman who was a popular, cliche cheerleader in high school. Because i don’t want to spoil anything for people who haven’t watched the show yet, i am not going to to talk in depth about the climatic storyline that revolved around Terri and Will during season 1. However, i will talk about why so many people dislike Terri. From the beginning of the show Will was always perceived as the ”hero” of glee. He saved the glee club, he supported all of his students and he was a genuinely nice person. Many fans were upset over the fact that Will had such a horrible partner on the show. Terri tried to convince Will to quit his job as a teacher and become an accountant instead. She lied about something that negatively affected their relationship forever and she treated will very badly. However, i don’t think that Terri is all bad. All villains have soft sides, and i think that Terri is a very good example of this. Terri is obviously not very mentally stable and so she releases her anger onto the people that she loves. I’m not going to stand beside Terri and say that the things she did were wrong, however i think that people are too critical about her and she should be treated better. After the horrible situation between Will and Terri ended she began to take meds and she also began to see a therapist. I believe that she wanted to get better and i think that we should recognize that and be a little nicer about her.

4: I love Run Joey Run. I’m not sure if this applies as an unpopular opinion as i know many people like Run Joey Run as well. I think that it’s a great cover. Obviously it’s not a well written song but i think that it’s simply iconic, and it deserves more love.

3: I hate the episode The End Of Twerk. It was such a clumsily written episode. There were so many strange things about it. The first thing that i had a problem with about this episode was the fact that Sue didn’t allow Unique to use the girls bathroom. Unique primarily identified as a female for the entirety of the show. The second thing i had a problem with in this episode was the fact that Will sung an incredibly sexual and inappropriate song in front of minors and made it seem like he was trying to stay relevant. It all seemed like the writers wanted everyone to hate Will in that moment. The final reason why i hated this episode was because it was handled so clumsily. The writers could’ve made the episode into something beautiful and thought provoking they could’ve made the episode about gender identity and gender equality in high school and America, but they handled it arrogantly and instead made it all a big running joke.

2: My favourite tribute episode is I Wanna Dance With Somebody

1: Kristin Chenoweth was my favourite guest star.

Musical Theatre Tag

Hello Everyone, How are you? i hope your doing very well. I know that it’s been a long time but i thought that today i would enlighten you all in something that i have seen many people do and it’s called the musical theatre tag. It’s a series of questions about theatre and musicals that you answer honestly. I thought that today i would complete it. I hope you enjoy and i also hope that you have a wonderful day!

1: What is the first musical you ever saw: The first musical that i ever saw was My Fair Lady written and composed by Frederick Lowe. It’s a fun, lighthearted entertaining musical about a woman named Eliza Doolittle who owns a flower shop in London. There she meets Henry Higgins a high class phonetics teacher who tells Eliza that he could teach her how to speak properly and with his expertise could pass her off as a dignified society woman at the annual Embassy Ball. They end up falling in love and having a very happy life together. All i remember is being completely enraptured in the performance and having a wonderful time at the young age of 3.

2: What was your favourite musical growing up: When i was little there were many musicals that i loved including Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma and Suessical. But the musical that i think about when i think about my early childhood i think of Annie. I used to love Annie. I think i found it quite relatable, Annie had curly hair (and so did i) Annie also had a happy go lucky attitude (and i do too.) There was something about her character that was very interesting and entertaining. I also loved the songs. Especially Tomorrow. My parents even have a video of me on my couch sining it at the age of 2 or 3. Can you imagine!

3: Were you ever in a musical: Haha! Yes! two actually! The first musical that i’ve been in is surprise surprise… Annie! Coincidence? Who knows. All i know is that it was a wonderful experience for me. Getting to play the lead role Annie was a really fun experience. The other show that i have been in is Matilda the musical which i am currently in rehearsal for! I am one of two girls playing Matilda and i couldn’t be happier. I’m in love. The songs are entertaining and beautiful the story is a classic and one we all know and love and the character is so diverse and complex that it’s really fun to play. I am so excited to begin shows and play the character in front of an audience.

4: What was the first musical you ever saw on Broadway: The first and only musical i have seen on Broadway was Oklahoma with the Broadway Cast including Ali Stroker and Damon Daunno. I saw it with my grandmother and it was an experience that i will never forget.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post and i hope you have a good day!
