Synopsis:

Rukshana Ali is a 16 year old Indian girl who happens to be gay! Her mother and father do not approve. Which means that Rukhshana has to keep her relationship with her girlfriend Ariana a secret. But when her parents found out they are furious, and send her away to Bangladesh for a arranged marriage. But with the help of her little brother she can be with Ariana and buy two cuddly furry prairie dogs. ( She loves prairie dogs).

Review:

I thought this book was very empowering and beautiful. Sabina Khan is a very good writer and explains the plot wonderfully. I loved the characters! My favourite character was the grandma who loved Indian sweets and books. But I also enjoy this character because when Rukhshana gets sent away to Bangladesh her grandma listens to all Rukhshana’s obstacles and challenges that she faces until eternal freedom! In the book there are some not very good parts, but all in all this is a great book that I would definitely recommend!
